On Saturday December 22, 2018 at 0239 hours, Station 92 along with Westville FD and the Woolwich FC were dispatched to the New Jersey Turnpike at the 18.2 mile marker southbound for a commercial vehicle fire. Reports were that the trailer portion of a tractor trailer was on fire. 9203(Wilson) arrived on location and reported that he has a cargo trailer well involved in fire on the shoulder of the roadway. The truck driver had separated his tractor from the trailer. Squad 921 arrived and started suppression with 2, 1 3/4 hand lines. The cargo in the trailer was a full load of frozen shrimp. The fire was knocked down and a lengthy overhaul was going to take place. Water for the suppression and overhaul to Squad 921 was provided by Rescue 738, Engine 923 and Engine 2513. Tender 2514 was on scene but their water was not used. The fire was extinguished and Squad 921 was requested by the New Jersey State Police to remain on location until the NJTP authority arrived on location to complete a lane closure for the recovery service.
