On September 28, 2019 at 0750 hours, Battalion 2 along with the Woolwich Fire Co and the Westville Fire Department were dispatched to the New Jersey Turnpike for a Commercial Vehicle Fire. Chief 2501 (Ross) received a report from the alarm room of a car carrier on fire. Ross advised that he a large column of spoke in the air and had the southbound companies enter the turnpike. Ross special called an Engine from the Harmony Fire Company and a Tender from the East Greenwich Fire Company to enter from Exit 2. Squad 921, on their arrival were detailed to the front of the incident and ordered to bring ground ladders to the scene to provide access to the upper vehicles. Engine 922 was detailed to assist with the water supply and give their 1000 gallons of water to Engine 2513. All Crews went into service and the fire was placed under control at the 30 minute mark. Crews continued the overhaul process hitting hot spots on the truck and the burnt cars. Once the fire was extinguished, Command (Ross) started to release the mutual aid companies.
