On Wednesday November 25th, Battalion Two was dispatched to the Deptford Park Apartments for a fire alarm activation. During the Response of Engine 923, the communications center advised that they received a 2nd telephone call advising of the odor of something burning on the #2 floor. The assignment was upgraded to the building. Engine 923 arrived to find a 5 story masonry building with nothing showing, the fire alarm active, and the building being evacuated. The crew met with security who advised that the alarm sounding in the area of room 209 and there is an odor of something burning. The crew from Engine 923 made their way to the #2 floor and investigated a slight odor. The resident of room 209 had been taken to the hospital the day before and the crew checked the apartment with a TIC and found that a coffee maker was left on with no water in it. The crew secured the power to the coffee maker and naturally ventilated the smoke odor. The alarm was reset and held and the assignment was recalled.
