On Saturday August 27th, the Deptford Fire Department, Battalion 2, along with the Woolwich Fire Company and the Westville Fire Department were dispatched to the New Jersey Turnpike at the 17.8 mile marker southbound for a motor vehicle crash. On arrival of Squad 921, a four vehicle crash was located with the high speed lane and shoulder blocked. Squad 921 was positioned to provide a safe zone for its crew and the passengers of the vehicles. Engine 923 was ordered to enter the highway and provide a shadow blocker for Squad 921. The EMT members of the apparatus were detailed to do patient assessment for the four vehicles. Two ambulances were summoned to the scene. All injuries were minor and treated by the arriving BLS units. Crews remained on location providing the safe zone until the tow service secured and removed the vehicles. Once this was completed the New Jersey State Police Trooper released the companies.
