On Thursday January 7, 2021 Battalion 2 was dispatched for a dwelling fire on Central Avenue. Reports were an attached porch to a house was on fire. Chief 9201 (Thomas) arrived on location to find a 30 x 20 wood deck that was on fire. Neighbors were using garden hoses to knock down the fire. The area was where plastic trash cans were next to the deck which was surrounded by a 4 foot wooden privacy fence. The fire was contained to this area thanks to the quick action of the neighbors. The crew from Squad 921 assisted the Deptford Fire Investigator with his investigation and then soaked the area down with a booster hose and removed a couple of the boards to ensure the fire was extinguished.
