On Thursday August 10, 2023 at 0405 hours, Squad 921 along with mutual aid partners were dispatched to the New Jersey Turnpike at the 14.3 mile marker southbound for a commercial motor vehicle crash with entrapment. Reports were a commercial vehicle off the highway and the driver still inside. Squad 921 along with Chief 701(Farley) arrived to find a 26′ box truck off the roadway, over the guard rail, down an embankment, and resting against a tree head on. The driver, the lone occupant, had self extricated and was sitting on the guard rail. A safe zone was provided by Rescue 738 as a blocker as the crew from Squad 921 ensured that there was no fluid leaking from the vehicle and that were no fire hazards. EMS arrived and cared for the driver. Once the scene was secured the New Jersey State Police Trooper released the fire department.
