On December 24th at 1046 hours, Tower 926 was dispatched for a dwelling fire on Chestnut Street in Brooklawn. Tower 926 responded with a crew of six and during the response, command reported a working fire in a 2.5 story single family dwelling and upgraded the assignment. Tower 926 was given orders to come onto Chestnut Street off of Broadway and set up on Division A. The crew set up the tower was close to division A as possible and had to trim branches in order to get the main through the trees and the bucket to the dwelling. Once this was completed the crew prepared to ventilate and as the crew got onto the roof, it was very spongy and the crew got back into the bucket. The fire presented itself through the roof very shortly there after. The ground crew on 926 stretched 300′ of 5″ supply line from Tower 926 to its own water source. Once established the Tower went into service with a master stream device. The fire was knocked down and the crew then started working the eves. The ground crew was detailed to assist with suppression. The fire was brought under control and Tower 926’s crew assisted with the overhaul. Once completed command started to release companies and after the Tower was restored it went available.
