On January 13, 2017 at 1041 Battalion Two was dispatched to 395 Marion Avenue for a Dwelling Fire. Battalion 9201 (Thomas) arrived on scene to find a 1.5 story wood frame single family dwelling with heavy fire on the C/D corner. 9201 requested the alarm room to “fill the box”, bringing additional resources. Engine 921 was ordered to lay a 5″ supply line from the middle of the block on Marion Avenue and stop past the residence and lead off with 1.75 hand lines for suppression. Engine 931’s crew were detailed to take a second 1.75 hand line and go through Division A. Ladder 946 was detailed to ladder the roof and provide vertical ventilation. Ladder 926 arrived before 946 and took their orders. Ladder 946’s crew were detailed to assist the interior ventilation crews. As additional resources arrived they were detailed to various fire ground tasks.
The interior group rescued a small dog that was still in its cage from the dwelling.
The fire was placed under control at the 20 minute mark.
The fire is under investigation by the Deptford Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s Office.
